The aim of this training course is to raise the safety and awareness levels of minibus drivers
Drivers are only allowed to drive a Council minibus if they have successfully completed the Council’s minibus course, MiDAS training or a course that is recognised by the Road Safety Team.
A Council and MiDAS certificate is valid for 4 years and refresher training needs to be taken every 4 years thereafter.
The Road Safety Team are responsible for Minibus Driver Training for all Council staff who drive a Council minibus.
The training includes a theory course and practical assessment. Driving assessments must be taken within 6 months of completing the theory course (3 months for refresher training).
Anyone completing the training for the first time must pass both parts (theory and practical) before driving with passengers.
The cost of the training is £80 per person. This includes a theory course and a practical assessment. Additional assessments will incur a further charge of £40.
